Who is it for?

WordCaptureX has been designed to address the needs of linguistic tools. These tools often integrate with other application to provide definition, translation, and spell-check of the word or sentence pointed by the mouse cursor.

Our customers proved the library can be used for many other scenarios like clicking on a phone number to call, validating a person's address and generally speaking the integration of two systems when the workflow required that one system is feed with the text from the other.

Who does use it?

Many dictionaries and translation tools are using our technology. WordWeb is probably the wide spread example. From startups to Fortune 500 companies we have more than 100 customers that successfully deployed the library with their products. IBM is perhaps our most prominent customer.

On the other side Babylon, and Abbyy are major companies in the linguistic field that offer single click word activation and market it aggressively. Since they are doing it why not you? And by the way, our technology is better than theirs by any metric you would imagine.

How reliable it is?

According to Wikipedia screen scraping techniques are error prone. We have spent the last 6 years perfecting the library. Our stress test suite regularly performs 1 million consecutive scraping in different applications. Impact on the target application is minimal and not noticeable to the user.

Why cannot I just use copy/paste?

Imagine a world where you are not able to click on the links received by email. You have to select the link, press CTRL-C, open your browser, click on adress bar and press CTRL-V. Looks tedious. It's the same with any text on the screen not only with the links.

Copying the text to the clipboard removed the previous item in the clipboard and sometimes it is the worst thing you can do to your users. Read more about screen scraping challenges here.

Even if you are fine with these limitations you still have to code sending CTRL-V to the application and reading the clipboard which are error prone tasks.

Does it work with all applications?

Currently working on Windows XP (x32) up to Windows 8.1 x32 and x64 editions.

On Windows it is able to extract text with 100% accuracy from most applications. It includes Microsoft Office, Internet Explorer and FireFox, Adobe Reader, email apps, messengers, Open Office and any application coded to use standard Windows text rendering engine. More...

How do I deploy it?

WordCaptureX comes with a convenient unlimited redistributable license that allows you to deploy on any computer you wish without paying any royalties.

The library interface is exposed using COM technology thus speaking your app language be it C++, VB6 and VB.Net, Delphi, C#, VBA or JavaScript. It comes with a code generator that creates the code you need to embed into your application.

Integration with your setup technology is immediate as we provide you with a MSI package and merge modules. It's worth nothing that you can install it on non-admin accounts too.
